Pat's Notes
January 10, 2010
STAGE AREA
As I write this article, the stage area has not been completed but it might be finished by the time you read the bulletin. If it is not completed then it will be soon. Thanks to all who have worked on the project and especially we want to thank Tammy Sexton who helped pick the materials and to Curtis Cozort who drew the plans and supervised the whole project. Curtis used to work for a living and he knows what he is doing. The whole church says “thanks.”
FIFTH SUNDAY
The last day of the month, January 31st, will be the Sunday for the all–church-report-time and the Special Fifth Sunday Giving. In this new year we need to continue our giving in a strong way in order to do things that need to be done and also to do the work of ministry here and elsewhere. Concerning our Fifth Sunday Offering, if we could double our giving and add a little to it then we would have a good amount. Think about all the things we have done in recent months with the money given at special offering times. You as a church are to be commended.
“SUPER BOWL”
February 7th is the annual Super Bowl Sunday for the teens. It usually begins about 3:00 or 3:30 PM and goes until “it is over.” This good time will be right here at Central and teens from other congregations are invited. Jim Laughary will head up the day’s activities. Adults, we will meet and have our evening service in the main auditorium. It is going to be an exciting day.
MANY INTERESTED
At this time we have had a number who have expressed interest in the work of Family/Youth Minister. Keep praying. In a few days the ad in various bulletins, college websites and gospel papers will go across the land and additional contacts should come in. We will try to keep all informed. This is more complicated than one might think because there is health insurance, salary and other matters that must be taken into consideration. Surely the right person is out there for Central and so with patience and prayer we will continue.
COMMIT
As the new year has begun, I hope we will continue to commit ourselves to the right and good. One, we need to commit ourselves to faithful Sunday attendance. It is hard to be strong without the right spiritual food and fellowship. Two, we need to commit ourselves to daily prayer to the Lord. Three, we need to commit ourselves to a custom of a daily study of the Bible. Four, we need to commit ourselves to pure and holy living. Five, we need to commit ourselves to the ministry of helping seek and save the lost. In order to make your commitment sure and strong then come to the worship assembly. Come with a Bible in your hand and a smile on your face and a spring in your step. I’ll look for you in your place.
