PENDERGRASS

Brother Pendergrass has begun his work as the Family and Youth Minister. Let’s pray for R.A. and encourage him in every way that we can. The Bible teaches that we are workers together. Often I think of the statement I read in a book written by a missionary. Here is the quote, “It is better to put ten men to work than to do the work of ten men.” We sing about and pray about work; therefore, let’s do it. Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4).

BIG THREE

Besides our wonderful time of worship on May 30th, at least three other exciting things will take place. One, it will be the All-Church-Family-Report-Time. Two, it will be our Special-Fifth-Sunday-Offering. Give and be a blessing and also be blessed. Concerning giving, we need to challenge ourselves to have a weekly offering of about $3000. Three, Russel Bell will be here for the evening service in order to give his yearly report concerning mission work in the country of India. Let me encourage as many as can to be here for the service. Central has helped Russel for many years in this good work. It would inspire him and encourage him if you could be present. If you can’t be here, then you can listen to his message on tape.

JUNE 13-16

It’s less than thirty days until the exciting yearly VBS begins. The theme this year is Pirates. Jim, Lee and others are working on specific topics. It will be good. Adults get ready to be here because if you are not helping in some way then you will be able to attend a class taught by four good men. Mike Pace, Frank Pitcock, Rick Davidson and Bob Spencer will teach. The exact dates are June 13-16. It begins on Sunday evening and ends on Wednesday night. Mark your calendar.

Three other things we don’t want to forget. One, there is the Christian camp at Paragould, AR for the young people. June 27-July 2nd will be the time for the preteens and July 11-16th will be the time for the teens. Two, Vicki Robertson is coordinating the Back-To-School Ministry. Vicki is asking that we just give money and let her buy what is needed. You can put your money in the box on the back table or if you want then make out a check to the church and brother Frank will see that Vicki gets the money. Three, the Church of Christ Weekend in Branson will be October 9-10th. Hundreds of people gather for good singing, preaching, worship and fellowship. Each year many go from Central and return revived.

PREPARE

Many things take place in order to get ready for Sunday. Saturday is important for Sunday. Song leader prepares, preacher prepares, teachers prepare and everybody prepares in some way. The Lord’s Day is a time to worship and to enjoy some of the best fellowship in the world. Come early and stay late. Come with a Bible in your hand and a smile on your face and a spring in your step. I’ll look for you in your place.
