R.A. TO BEGIN

In a few days R. A. Pendergrass will begin his work with us as the Family and Youth Minister. R.A. and his wife Connie and family have been with the Central church for many years. We are grateful and thankful to have this good family with us. Let us pray for and work with R.A. This year, 2010, may be the greatest year in the history of this church. May each of us dedicate ourselves to faithful attendance, living and giving. Life is short so we need to do as much good as we can as long as we can.

VBS

The date for the yearly VBS is June 13-16. We will start on Sunday and end on a Wednesday night. As you know, this is something good and great for both old and young. Jim and Lee do an outstanding job in planning, preparing and then leading in this effort. If you can help then do so because it takes many to do all the things that need to be done. I assure you, few if any, can have any better VBS than happens right here. It is outstanding!

CAMP

Each year many young people attend the Christian camp at Paragould, Arkansas. Camp makes such an impression on young people that as long as they live the memories of camp will bless their soul. The preteen session will be June 27-July 2nd. The teen week will be July 11-16th. Parents, you would do well to put these dates on your calendar and make sure your children can be part of this life-changing experience. Each year some are saved and all are drawn closer to the Lord.

BACK-TO-SCH00L

A few days ago I called Vicki Robertson about the Big-Going-Back-To-School-Giveaway and she said, “The giveaway will be Saturday, July 31st.” She has made a list of needed things or if you would like to just give Vicki cash or checks then she will be more than glad to buy what is needed. Incidentally, if you give a check to her it may be good to make it to the Central Church of Christ and Frank will take care of the check and give the money to Vicki. This is a wonderful and needed ministry and we thank Vicki for leading and coordinating this good work.

BRANSON, MO

Since I am writing about good things during the year, I need to mention the Church of Christ Weekend at Branson, MO. It will be October 9-10th. Hundreds of people gather there each year for good singing, preaching, worship and fellowship. Each year many go from Central and as you return you always indicate how your heart has been stirred and your soul has been blessed.

WORSHIP

Some years ago the song leader at the church where I preached went to a well attended lectureship and they had good preaching and he came home and said to me, “Why can’t we have good preaching like that here?” and I wanted to say, “because of the same reason we can’t have good singing here.” Here is the point-we can have good singing and preaching in the local church if all of us will get “fired up” and do our best in what we do. Song leaders need to do their best and preachers need to do their best and members should help make the entire worship service the best we can every week. Be in your place and let’s worship and praise the Lord.
