Pat's Notes

December 27, 2009

TODAY

We have come to the final Sunday in 2009. Many good things have taken place during the year. I want to encourage us to keep checking on the ones who are not in their place during Sunday Bible class and the worship assembly. It is good to show love and concern for others. As I was writing these lines, Arvil Hill from Arkansas called and said the money in the coin cans has been counted and it amounted to $632.20. If anyone has additional coin cans to turn in then do so and brother Hill will get them later.

CHECK ON

Also during the cold winter months it would be good to check on the sick and elderly. As you know, some don’t have close family members to care for them. Don’t forget your neighbors who might need some kind of help. Remember Jesus said in Matthew 25:40. “...I say to you inasmuch as you do it to one of the least of these My brethren, you do it to Me.”

THANKS

As we look back on the month of December we need to express thanks to Jim and Lee Laughary and Debbie King and any other adults and all the teens who made cookies for Sunday, December 6th. Thanks to Rick and Peggy Davidson for a holiday food and fellowship time with the “39ers.” Also thanks to all the good Bible teachers who have faithfully taught during this year and thanks to all the bus drivers who drive the buses of transportation.

MEN

I don’t want us to overlook the good men who participate in the Wednesday services. Men lead singing. Men pray. Men give the devotional lessons. All of these fellows do a good job and they are to be commended. With all the good things that take place during the week I would like to encourage all members to put forth an effort to be in Bible class and worship service. If you are not here then you are missed.

WISE WORDS

  • I don’t know why some people change churches. What difference does it make which one you stay home from?
  • Don’t let your worries get the best of you. Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.
  • Smiles never go up in price nor down in value.

BE HERE

In Matthew 17:3 Simon Peter said, “Lord, it is good for us to be here.” In this attitude may we come and worship each week. Across the land churches of Christ meet on Sunday. Many things go into making a good service. Let’s sing, pray and preach. To some degree you get out of a worship time what you put into it. Be in your place and be blessed. Come with a Bible in your hand and a spring in your step and a smile on your face. I will look for you in your place.
