TODAY

Today is the Lord’s Day and a time to worship and a time for the Church-Family-Report-Time and a time for the Special-Fifth-Sunday-Offering and a time for the yearly mission report of Russel Bell. We are living in a busy world and Christians are busy people. In the Old Testament the Lord instructed His people to take a day of rest. The New Testament does not give specific information concerning a rest day but for sure things are not the same on Sunday. Members begin arriving at the church building about 9:00 AM and for the next three hours we are in fellowship and worship. Plan to be in your place every week.

DEACON

In another state and some days ago, a young deacon suddenly passed away. It shocked the whole church. A good man wrote the following poem about the death of this deacon. The poem is entitled “When A Good Man Goes.”

Why one man checks out early and the other man leaves late,
Only the good Lord really knows.
But one thing is for certain and there is no debate,
We all feel the sting when a good man goes.

The sudden loss, the empty void,
The helplessness that through our body flows,
The shock, the anguish and the grief we cannot avoid,
Leaves us wounded and hurt when a good man goes.

Crying and weeping, sorrow and sadness,
Questions without answers to disclose.
Rage and fury, anger and madness,
Suddenly surface when a good man goes.

Who can claim to know the reason,
For the moment that death will so often expose?
Perhaps one day, in its due season,
We’ll understand why a good man goes.

BLESSINGS

Each week I read church bulletins that come from different places. Recently I read the following from a bulletin: “Religion should be a steering wheel, not a spare tire...Prayer is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening...If absence makes the heart grow fonder, some members must be deeply in love with the church.” Powerful lessons can be expressed in a few words. Make your life count for good by living the Christian life. In another city a man was saved and only lived a few days and think about all the good times he could have had with his family in living the Christian life. Be saved and be in the assembly of worship every week. Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” Be in your place this Sunday and let’s worship the Lord and enjoy the best fellowship in the world. Come early and stay late. Come with a Bible in your hand and a smile on your face and a spring in your step. I’ll look for you in your place.
