TONY GENTRY

Tony Gentry will be at Central for a weekend Revival March 19-21st. This is a Friday through Sunday meeting. Will you commit yourself to be here? Will you commit yourself to invite at least one person? You may ask who is Tony Gentry? He is the minister at the Brookline Church where Hillard Story is one of the elders and Hillard says, “Tony is a great preacher.” As you know, we have not had a three day Revival in some time, so let’s make this a good one. Begin to pray and plan.

UPDATE

As indicated before, many have expressed an interest in the work of Family and Youth Minister. We have talked with some of the fellows by phone and we have visited with one family in person. I am writing all this to say that we are making good efforts to find the right family in order to work with us. At the right point and time we hope to have a family to visit the church and that will give you an opportunity to visit with them and get better acquainted. The elders will keep you informed and you will have input on the final choice.

TODAY

Today is the Big-Fifth-Sunday-Giving-Time. These giving times help in doing things that need to be done in order to keep everything in good shape. Thanks to everyone who sacrifices and gives. The Lord loves His people. The regular service, preaching and singing will be shorter today because it is also the All-Church-Family-Report-Sunday.

“SUPER BOWL”

Next week, February 7th, will be the yearly “Youth Super Bowl Sunday” at Central. Many young people will be here and it will be a time of fun and fellowship. They will have their own devotional in the evening and the adults will meet in the small auditorium for the 5:30 PM service. Be here because it is going to be good. Last year we had a visiting preacher for the adults.

REMEMBER

  • Faith is the ability not to panic.
  • If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don’t worry.
  • As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home every day.
  • Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape
  • Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.

CONCLUSION

In thinking about children and young people and people of faith, I think about the family with a little girl, age one, and a little boy, age four. At Christmas time the little girl tried to eat the wrapping paper and it got stuck in her throat and on the way to the hospital in a fast speed, the four year old boy in the back calmly said, “Don’t worry mom, we all have to die sometime.” Later the mother said, “Of course our daughter was fine and we have laughed about his calm assurance ever since.” Moms and Dads, one way to build faith in yourself and your children is to be in the assembly of worship. Come early and stay late. Come with a Bible in your hand and a spring in your step and a smile on your face. I’ll look for you in your place.
