Pat's Notes
February 7, 2010
TODAY
Today is the Big Day for the teens. It is the yearly Super-Bowl-Rally. It will begin about 3:30 PM. Parents be sure to encourage your young people to be here. Attention adults, the evening worship will be in the small auditorium at the regular time, 5:30 PM. Bring your Bible.
MARCH 19-21
Continue to pray and plan fort the Revival that will be March 19-21st. First, commit yourself to be here. Second, get at least one other person committed to be present for one or all of the services. There is something else I need to mention, and it has to do with food. Instead of the big meal being on March 14th it will be on March 21st. Prepare enough food for your family and then some. We never want to be short of good food.
VISIT
As mentioned in previous bulletins, elders will visit Bible classes. If any of you teachers want a particular elder to visit your class, in order to observe and/or to discuss a topic, then just let it be known. The elders and the whole church love and appreciate our good Bible teachers. Perhaps in this life you may never know all the good that you are doing in teaching the word of the Lord.
BROTHER’S KEEPER
Here is something I want to remind and encourage us as a church-family to continue the attitude of being our “brother’s keeper.” If someone is not in their place then please check on them. Recently, sister Hall was not here on Sunday and later I learned that she had been in the hospital. May we always love and care for each other.
SUICIDE
Recently the topic of suicide has been raised and years ago one of the older preachers made the following comments: “It is not likely that any sane person ever committed suicide. As long as reason sits enthrone, it seems impossible for one to be guilty of self destruction… It seems unlikely that people who die by their own hand will be held accountable for the deed.” It seems to me that the elderly preacher has some good thoughts about suicide. Perhaps he gives the general rule but there can be exceptions to the rule
READ THIS
Surely for every Christian, one of the highlights of the week is the Sunday worship assembly. A time to sing, pray, preach, study the Word, commune at the Lord’s table, and make an offering. All of these things are to be saturated with love and good fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ. If you are not saved then arise and be saved because you need to be in God’s family. You don’t want to miss some of the best things in life. And then there is life on the other side. Come to the assembly with a big smile, your Bible and a spring in your step. I’ll look for you in your place.
